Without a flickering shadow of a doubt, S.T.O.P. made the right decision not to participate in The Beacon’s feature story on CAW’s industrial wind turbine. The article’s tone is biased, the issues are misunderstood, S.T.O.P.’s questions to MOE are paraphrased, and MOE’s inadequate answers are accepted. Lost, for example, in your article is the fact that CAW’s turbine would never have been approved for this location except MOE and the CAW misrepresented the resort community as an urban community. Missing in your coverage is the fact that the Noise Study states CAW’s turbine must operate at 400kw to meet MOE’s requirements yet MOE is letting it proceed at 500kw. (Is it any wonder CAW’s Noise Report hasn’t been publicly released?)
CAW’s large industrial wind turbine is precedent-setting with no stipulated setback whatsoever for health and safety. CAW has let no obstacle— legislation, Town opposition, or otherwise—stand in the way of getting what it wants. About 100 families, FEC employees, daycare children, and approximately 4000 residents are victims of CAW’s social travesty. And now The Beacon has fallen prey to CAW’s propaganda. S.T.O.P. expects to receive the same feature story space granted to CAW. If CAW has been so ‘open…transparent…and compliant with legislation’, how could it be allowed to operate a new for-profit industrial enterprise at the FEC that threatens public health and safety, decreases property values by 30%, and freezes 70% of the Town’s vacant residential building lots causing job losses, tax revenue decreases, and likely tax rate hikes for all residents? What about peoples’ rights to health, safety, and quiet enjoyment of their properties? Think about tourists who will just drive on through Saugeen Shores when they see a massive IWT as they enter town. Do people know they now need to sign a wind turbine disclosure to list their property for sale in Saugeen Shores? We need to talk about OFA’s call for a moratorium pending resolution of wind energy issues, about wind as a welfare industry funded by government’s public coffers, and about the international realization that wind energy’s problems are serious.

An great video interview with Lorrie Goldstein discussing “why Ottawa should ignore Ontario’s model’ when it comes to Wind Turbines. Ottawa plans to copy Ontario’s wind turbine model which is the WORST possible strategy according to Lorrie Goldstein and his investigation . . .

Dr Robert McMurtry, Order of Canada, records his concerns about Industrial Wind Turbines. Find out about the effect of Wind Turbines on human health and community well-being, in this powerful video called “No Safe Place.”
Only 13 minutes long, this video is compelling. Please take the time to watch it.
Last Thursday, the Toronto Star ran an article (link below) about the travesty in our community where 100 families live inside 550 m and 4,000 people live inside 2,000 m which is the Town’s setback policy.
The Star told us they would run additional articles if measureable interest is shown in the article.
We need to get our message to the GTA, so please spread the word.
1. Please forward the article to everyone you know:

What’s it like?
I have tried to explain, as best I can since I haven’t lived it, some of what people have experienced when industrial wind turbines move in next door. I don’t think I’ve succeeded. If people truly understood, they would lay on the road or strap themselves to turbine parts or do anything they could think of to try to stop anymore from being built in this province, far too closely to homes, schools and towns.
Some think they can decide to tolerate it, that they will be okay as if they have a choice and control over noise and vibration assaulting their body and brain. Some think more insulation or burying power lines or plain old will power will overcome this assault. Some think you have to be prone to other problems before it will affect you. Some think they are so healthy and strong that they will be able to handle anything. Reports from across the province and the world do not bear any of these statements out.
I have just heard from another who has, after fighting valiantly for a long time, sold thier home with the hell and torment of emotion that comes from being forced into ill health and then forced to leave a dream/nightmare.
Try to sit and take that in for a few minutes. Try to begin to imagine what this would do to you and your family.
How would you manage at your job and your life if you were hardly able to function through the day because you can’t sleep anymore, you can’t think anymore, because you constantly feel unwell, because you are so nauseated you can’t keep food down or your head hurts so badly, you just want to jump off a bridge?
What if you needed to take care of family members who were ill or in need, but you just don’t bring them home because it’s toxic there?
Imagine being completely ignored or denied and dismissed, after two solid years of firm, but polite communication with Ministry people, MPPs, etc. asking for help because you are in this desperate and devastating situation through no fault of your own.
Then imagine listening to the likes of Dr. Colby and King (literature review doctors who will not talk to you), Tyler Hamilton (media person), Kris Stevens(special interest group) and McGuinty and his cast of cronies (politicians), tell everyone there is no problem with wind turbines and health over and over again. How would it sit with you to hear them say that people who are getting paid to host turbines are just fine? This is not true by the way but it becomes another verbal assault and insult to you because no one could pay you enough to live like this.
Imagine sitting during the few times the turbines are down and not running, tensed and waiting for the assault on your body to restart. Imagine the bittersweet joy of hearing a bumblebee and the wind in the trees without turbines whomping in the background, knowing that it’s not going to last for long.
The premier of the province calls you or your sick family member a NIMBY. How does it feel as McGuinty looks directly into your eyes, as someone who has been forced from your home by his turbine crusade, while you are holding a sign saying, ” I WANT MY HOME BACK” and smiles and waves to you as he boards his big election tour bus.
Your doctor changes the subject and becomes distant to you when you try to tell him/her why you are sick. You want to cry as you leave the office, humiliated.
After trying all kinds of legitimate means to make your home healthy again, you finally move out, sometimes for good, sometimes being compensated, sometimes not.
Imagine all of this still swirling around you as you’ve finally had to move out of your toxic home to find some relief.
Lorrie Gillis
Speech delivered to the residents of Listowel
There are about 800 large turbines up and running in Ontario at the moment. I live near Shelburne where a 133 industrial wind turbines have devastated a number of families. I’ve worked on this issue for 4 years now, particularly on the effect turbines are having on the health and well being of families.
I’m in touch with many people who have suffered life altering effects after turbines started up next to them. The letter I’m going to read to you is a compilation of what I’ve been told over and over again by these people.
